A church wedding that filled with colour the moment it stepped outside.
The ceremony was in a stone church, with the arcades and the light that only old buildings give you. The bride wore an extraordinarily long lace veil — the kind that trails down steps and means someone has to walk behind it making sure it doesn't catch.
The contrast came on the way out. Coloured smoke, white parasols for the bridesmaids, a balloon release, and grounds that look like something else entirely from the air.
Dinner was outdoors, among hydrangeas, dahlias and amaranth spilling off the tables. Each table number carried a photograph of the couple as children. Details like that take months of conversation and fifteen seconds of anyone's attention.
